the sketchbook project...

so the other day i signed up for something really exciting, the sketchbook project! i had heard a little bit about it from a blog thats one of my daily reads, that isnt in english (its in german, i understand some, but the girls got great taste so i love to see what shes blogging about) and saw a link to this project. i looked into it and signed right up.
basically what happens is that you sign up, they send you a sketchbook, you fill it up and send it back, it tours the states, and then its put into a permanent collection in the Brooklyn Art Library!
im so excited. i got my sketchbook in the mail today, and tomorrow after work i plan on starting!
ohh and i was talking to a friend about it all last week, she signed up right away, and now if things all work out we plan on going on a road trip and visiting the tour when it stops in Chicago!! and when im back in New York at some point in life i can check my book out there too! one cool thing it that they catalogue all the books, and give all the artists a library card. so when someone looks at my sketchbook, it goes on record, and they email the artists every time their book is signed out!
i just think that its really an amazing project. so many artists from all over the world are involved (as of this week theres over 10,000!!!). and its cool that the books will be traveling, and then also always available to look at in Brooklyn too.
i can't wait to get started on my book! i will defiantly be posting some of the pages as i go!
