super cute porcelain brooches from andODesign. i've never been a huge fan of ceramics, don't get me wrong, i really like it but i've never wanted to work with it too much, but there is just something about porcelain lately that i'm just loving.

i haven't gotten too much into halloween this year, but i am loving all of these pretty pumpkins. i always love carving pumpkins, and i just love all of these elegant designs. i may have to try carving my pumpkin with a doily pattern this year...

i found this first image via Melissa Loves last night, and then went searching for triangles on etsy. there is just something about triangles this fall that i just love, the simplicity of the shape but the limitless possibilities. hope you like them too!

just a few photos of some adventures to queen st west this fall.

isn't this little lady the cutest thing ever? i think so too.
right now im working on a lot of different projects for school, and i've been going thru family photos, letters and such and its all going to be incorporated into an up coming project, as well as my grad project that im going to be working on all next semester.
and i think that this photo of my momma is the perfect inspiration!!

knit, crochet, knit, crochet...

so in my textile investigations class we just started a knit/crochet/weave unit. and there is no final project, just lots and lots of samples, 20 of each technique! to learn the basic stitches we're allowed to use regular yarn, but after that we have to work with unconventional materials. and i want to work LARGE! i saw Christien Meindertsma's work a while back (the second image with the massive knitting), and am very inspired. and then today i saw this huge-scale crochet rug by ladies&gentlemen.
so right now im working on knitting with boating rope that i found last weekend. i am suppose to be crocheting first tho, but its slightly frustrating, so im knitting instead right now!

textile love...

so i've seen her work before, but came across it again today, and i just love Zoe Murphys printed textiles and furniture. i love her used of line and her colour palette. she uses old dresses and repurposed furniture to apply her prints to. check out her website and blog!

slug bugs...

so my little bugs have come back once again to make an appearance in my work. i started working with the bug imagery in first year, for my 3 meter repeat print, and since then they have been stitched, drawn, digitized and now made into little sculptures. this little family of slugs is for my paper project, creating a 3 dimensional form using paper. i really like working with the wire to make these guys, as it portrays the original gestural character from the drawings. im going to photograph them again when they are totally dry, as i think that they will be very interesting and slightly transparent with some light behind them.
