more design weekend...

so its gonna be a full weekend, full of design! (i told you its toronto international design festival, and that theres a lot going on!).

ohh and just to top all of that off im going to be attending a lecture at Harbourfront Center, Viva Voce- Voices from the Craft Studio.

design weekend...

so this weekend is the Toronto International Design Festival, and there will be LOTs of design things happening! tomorrow im going to be going to the Interior Design Show, and then for an alternative design option we'll be going to Come Up to My Room at the Gladstone Hotel. its definatly going to be an interesting day full of design! im pretty excited.
i will be taking lots of photos in the city, and hopefully i'll have lots of interesting things to share with you!

textured inspiration...

so i've had a super busy last week or so, and when i haven't been busy i've been super lazy! school is getting slightly stressful and theres always lots to do with classes/studio time/working as studio monitor/internship, ohh and trying to have a social life! craziness. today was my internship day in toronto, and it was really great. i got to help with a photo shoot for the Fall 2011 collection. hopefully i'll be able to get some pictures from it. but now im off to bed and then a busy day of class and work followed by a crazy design weekend! i'll post more about that tomorrow!

internship!

ohh so i don't know why i haven't shared this yet, but i'm starting an internship with Virginia Johnson tomorrow! im really excited. Virginia Johnson is a Canadian textile designer who creates colourful prints on clothing, shawls, home and children's wear. check out her website here! i'll keep you posted on how it goes and what i get to do, tomorrow i'm going to be helping shoot and edit some new product!

urban sketchers...

so i'm pretty sure that i've mentioned the site Urban Sketchers before, but just incase you didn't know, i love this site! i find it so incredibly inspiring, i wish i drew more! i used to draw all the time at my old school, but theres not much pressure to do it at the school im at now, we mostly just do product sketches. but this is an amazing site, you should check it out!

this is my finished embroidery piece, that i entered into a miniature show at the Art Exchange gallery back at home in London. the show runs from jan 31 to feb 19, opening night friday, feb 4th.

brand new stash...

i started a new embroidery project today (which i'll show you pictures of tomorrow), and my momma let me raid her embroidery floss stash! i had a lot of my own floss to start off with, but my mom has this crazy special cabinet in the basement at home that my grandma got for her (almost full) from a shop that was closing. so now i have a nice new stash of my own too!

new eyes...

so i'm really wanting a new pair of glasses, and i'm hoping to maybe get some soon. i think maybe tomorrow or later this week im gonna go out and try some on. i had fun today 'trying' some of these glasses on today from Warby Parker. i'm really liking bigger frames now, and possibly in a sandalwood or tortoise shell finish. i'll let you know if i find some new ones :)

baby its cold outside...

this is how it feels outside right now... so cold. i went for a walk today, and it was way colder than i thought it would be. but at the end of the walk was bridesmaid dress shopping with my cousin, and now im really excited for next summer and all the wedding festivities!

my crafty work in 2010...

so its been quite the year. i thought i'd join in and look back on all of the crafty projects that i got up to. it all makes me even more excited for 2011! its nice to go back and look through all of the projects i've made this year, i really enjoyed them all, and i think that they all are involved in me being in the place i am now with my work.
